A round-up of 2022: My favorite yachts.
This year has been very exciting in the yachting world. With (hopefully) the pandemic-ridden years behind us, we have seen even more boat launches as builders have returned in full force with some incredible new yachts coming on the scene.
What with the boat shows back in full swing, exciting developments in tech and sustainability, as well as new, head-turning designs and more adventures to be had on expedition yachts, 2022 has truly been something.
On a personal level, Below Deck Adventure aired this November and it has been so great to see and share our Norwegian fjord adventures with the world! Filming was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. Post filming, I have thoroughly enjoyed connecting and networking with even more like-minded yachting professionals too.
But for now, here are some of my favorite yachts from 2022:
M/Y Come Together
The 197ft Amels was delivered this year and is one of my favorites. She is hybrid-powered, with a top speed of up to 15 knots. The innovative Winch Design carried out simple and contemporary design ideas. Luckily for clients, she is available for charter, with room for up to 12 guests. The amount of toys and beach club on board is perfect for any summer vacation. Let me know if it is toys and fun you want for next year, as I know just the yachts for that!
M/Y Blue
This vast 525ft Lurssen was the largest superyacht delivery this year. Throughout its build, it continued to raise some interest under the name ‘Project Blue,’ where hardly anything was known about her. She exceeded expectations once splashed, and for good reasons, and is now the 5th longest yacht in the world! I hear her impressive range of features even includes a dance floor. Unfortunately, not for charter, but amazing to admire all the same!
S/Y Marie Joseph
On a smaller but not any less impressive scale, Sunreef has made some great strides this year in its launches. One of those is this Sunreef Eco 80. The sailing catamaran is powered by solar energy and electric propulsion, and their Eco line ensures that silence and comfort are at the forefront. I love how versatile catamarans are, with not only the space advantages and ease of getting into more anchorages but also the environmental benefits they prioritize, especially the Sunreefs. If you are looking to charter a cat for next year, I have some great options.
M/Y Goga
I love explorer yachts, and this first of the Benetti B.YOND range doesn’t disappoint. The 121ft yacht has been claimed as both ‘innovative’ and the ‘greenest in her size class.’ She boasts hybrid propulsion technology and a huge range for long-distance adventures. She accommodates up to 10 guests, complete with a walk-in wine cellar - how cool!
S/Y Sorvind
This Southern Wind performance yacht was delivered this year from the South African shipyard. The 113ft carbon fiber hull caught my eye as it is as sleek outside as it is inside. The interior is super sophisticated and designed by Nauta Design. She is available for charter for those relaxing sailing weeks or thrill-seeking adventures. I feel there will be even more demand next year for sailing charters, and I have some in mind already, so get in touch if you are after a sailing vacation with a difference.
Tender: Miss Wonderly
When it comes to this year’s best tenders, I think Falcon Tenders takes the prize here. They launched their all-new beach club limo tenders at MYS. As if the name, Miss Wonderly, isn’t sophisticated enough, the 32 ft tender has been built to incredible standards and is pleasingly spacious. They also prioritize sustainability with the hybrid-drive technology that allows her to operate in silent electric mode up to 9 knots.
If you have read this and agree (or disagree!) with any of my favorites, I would love to hear your opinion on this year’s fleet.
Next year looks even more exciting in terms of new yachts and destinations. If you are interested in joining the yachting world next year, whether that be charter or sale, shoot me a DM! I would love to chat through the range of options you have.
I hope you all have very happy holidays, and let’s bring on yachting in 2023!
